Delivery Driver Injured Knee and Back

Sean was a heavy goods vehicle driver delivering goods to a distribution centre in Devon which served a major supermarket.

He parked his lorry in a designated vehicle waiting area within the distribution centre and he then got out of his vehicle. There was no pavement so he stepped onto a gravel covered slope beside the road. It seemed safe enough but unbeknown to him there was a polythene covering under the gravel which de-stabilised the gravel and made him slip over and he damaged his knee and shoulder. Liability was bitterly disputed by the distribution centre.

Court proceedings were commenced but less than a week before the commencement of the trial a settlement was reached and Sean recovered £4000.
